Portfolio
The following projects were designed (or redesigned) and built by Classical Webdesigns.
Website Design / Redesign
M.F.S. Photography (2006)
For M.F.S. Photography, the client wanted a website that reflected his style of photography. The client also wanted to use his existing company logo, as well as showcase his work and a way for interested visitors to contact him. The underlying engine for the portfolio is a bespoke gallery program (based on Classic Gallery, but heavily customised) which allows the client to upload, edit and delete his own photographs.
M.F.S. Photography is built using web standards, XHTML and CSS, along with some unobtrusive JavaScript for swapping images in the portfolio.

Pascal School of Dance (2005)
The task for the Pascal website was to present class information and schedules, and the photos of the dance classes in action give a sense of fun and liveliness. The client requested that the existing logo be kept for continuity with offline material, so this was boldly incorporated into the design.
Pascal School of Dance is built using web standards, XHTML and CSS, along with some unobtrusive JavaScript for swapping images on the menu links.

Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens at the QMT (2005)
For the Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens site, the brief was to make a website that suited the kitsch, camp, techno-neon-sci-fi, "disco" feel of the show, while still being easy to use and standards compliant. The site provides all the necessary information about the production (dates, times, prices etc.) as well as cast bios, photo gallery and production journal.
Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens is built using web standards XHTML, CSS and extensive custom PHP programming for the photo gallery, production journal, news updates and contact form.
The show has now finished, but the website still remains.
Frenchies Design (2004)
The task got from Frenchies Design was to design a site that would showcase some of the custom clothing designs by Frenchies, as well as provide a way for potential clients to contact the designer.
The relatively small number of images for the showcase, meant that a gallery program was overkill and that it would be better for Frenchies to just send new items for the showcase to us to add them to the site manually.
Frenchies Design is built using web standards, XHTML, CSS and a little bit of PHP programming for the contact form.

Dance on the Net (2004)
Dance on the Net is the online catalogue for a bricks-and-mortar store. The website was already established when we took over with a steady client base.
Since taking on the site, we have redesigned it to be more standards compliant, although the e-commerce software the site uses still outputs large chunks of legacy code, which means the catalogue pages do not yet validate. We believe they are at least usable in the sense that they do not break in user's browsers, and navigating the site should be fairly straight-forward.

Queen Mother Theatre (2001, redesign 2006)
The Queen Mother Theatre website was built and is maintained on a volunteer basis by Classical Webdesigns. It features information about the theatre and it's acting societies, as well a list of "what's on" for the current season.
It is built with standards compliant XHTML and CSS, with the aim of being as accessible and usable as possible for a public organisation.
There is also a lot of custom PHP and MySQL programming to run the "What's On" database and online newsletter. Recently the site has ventured into providing RSS feeds for key features.

Classic Gallery (2005/2006)
Classic Gallery is a standards compliant, fully accessible image gallery that works in any browser. Select an image (allowed types: JPG, GIF and PNG), add a short caption and a description, and then upload! Classic Gallery can easily be incorporated into an existing website.
Classic Gallery is written in PHP with a MySQL database; it uses XHTML, CSS and unobtrusive JavaScript.
